Privacy and AI Model Information
Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Graphic Novel Maker is designed to minimize data collection.
Student ID: We collect your 9-character student ID to track usage of the application. This ID doesn't directly contain personal information and is stored securely.
No Personal Data Collected: We do not knowingly collect personal information (like names, emails, addresses) from users.
User Prompts: Please do not enter any personal or sensitive information into the image prompts. We temporarily store your prompts and generated images on our servers, and the prompts are sent to third-party AI services (Google Cloud and OpenAI) to create the images.
Your scene descriptions, generated images and student ID are stored for research purposes.
COPPA Compliance: Our practices align with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). See our full Privacy Policy for details.
AI Model Information
This application uses advanced AI models via APIs from Google Cloud (Gemini/Imagen 3 models) and OpenAI (GPT-4o model) to generate images based on the text prompts you provide.
Data Usage by AI Vendors
Purpose Limitation: When you enter a prompt, it is sent to Google Cloud or OpenAI only for the purpose of generating the requested image for your current session.
No Training Data: According to their policies, neither Google Cloud nor OpenAI uses data submitted via their APIs (your prompts) to train their general AI models by default.
Temporary Retention for Safety: To monitor for abuse and misuse, vendors like OpenAI may retain API data (your prompts) for up to 30 days before deletion, solely for safety and security purposes. This data is not used for model training.
Local Storage
To improve your experience, some information, such as tool settings or preferences, as well as your work-in-progress comic, may be stored directly in your browser's local storage on your own device. This data remains on your device to both minimize bandwidth usage and to allow you to resume work on your comic. You can typically clear this data via your browser settings.
Your student ID is stored in local storage for 30 days to keep you logged in.
